The
MIT European Club is one
of the largest student run organizations at MIT. The goal of the
European Club is to provide a network for Europeans as well as
those interested in the European way of life in the Greater Boston
area. We organize social, athletic, cultural and career related
events keeping the European focus in mind. For example we organize
annually the probably largest career fair outside of Europe targeting
the European job market. To find out more about the club and to
join our email lists visit https://euroclub.mit.edu.
meOme.de
is a unique, personalized knowledge-network which provides focused
and relevant information based on user preferences. The preferences
are gathered by reviewing user bookmark collections rather than
questionnaires. Portals are created from the acquired information
which are used as platforms to bring together individuals and
companies with similar interests. meOme.de will revolutionize
the market of user-targeted content and e-commerce portals.
At
the end of March one of the European Club committee members was
on visit in Germany and met the management team from n-tree in
Berlin who are just launched their www.meOme.de
personalized internet web portal. Very soon the idea of bringing
European startups to Boston was born. This was also the official
kick-off for the 1st Pan-European start-up meeting.
While we only had 6 weeks to plan the event we were confident we can make it happen. The demand from the startup community was overwhelming and the concept was proven to be right. We would specifically like to thank our sponsors who believed in us and agreed to support us at a stage while the concept and agenda were still at a draft stage.
